About Clement Chitiwanga

Clement Chitiwanga, a 17-year-old from Chinsapo, Malawi does not worry about his future, but instead puts his trust in God. Chinsapo is a diverse community with 75% of the people living below the poverty line. Many people living in this economically disadvantaged community struggle to meet their basic day-to-day needs such as food, shelter, clean water, health and hygiene needs. Clement’s parents own their own business and are able to provide three meals a day consisting of n'sima and small fish for their five children to eat. With the basic needs his parents are able to provide, Clement attends school and is currently a junior in high school. He enjoys physical science and aspires to be a doctor in the future. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, praying and studying. Clement is part of The Chisomo Idea scholar athlete program, which helps to meet his social and spiritual needs. The Chisomo Idea provides solid Christian mentorship in addition to programs that help meet his physical and intellectual needs. Clement is working hard toward his future knowing that it is in God’s hands and he has Christian mentors and friends by his side.
