About Brenda Matipwiri
Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; not by way of eye service, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. With good will render service as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free. Ephesians 6:5-8
Brenda Matipwiri, a 20-year-old girl, has grown up in Chinsapo, Malawi as one of six children in her family. Chinsapo is a diverse community with 75% of the people living below the poverty line. Many people living in this economically disadvantaged community struggle to meet their basic day-to-day needs such as food, shelter, clean water, health and hygiene needs. Brenda’s family is no exception to this- her father works as a guard to provide meager meals of n'sima and fish for his family. Brenda and her family are thankful for programs like The Chisomo Idea Scholar athlete program that allow her to have her social, spiritual, intellectual and physical needs met. She loves playing netball with her friends and the guidance she receives from her mentors through The Chisomo Idea. Brenda is currently a senior in high school and enjoys math. When she graduates, Brenda hopes to study to be a nurse, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord.
