Chisomo Bashiri

About Chisomo Bashiri

Even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:5-6

Chisomo Bashiri is a 22 year old girl who has grown up in Chinsapo, Malawi. Chisomo means “grace” in Chichewa, the language spoken by the majority of people in Malawi. Chisomo, or grace, seems to be a common theme for this young woman- her name, her favorite bible verse and the organization that has helped to meet her social, spiritual, physical and intellectual needs. Chisomo is one of four children in her family. Neither her father nor her mother currently have work, so they struggle to provide for the needs of their family. They are able to eat two small meals a day consisting of n'sima and fish. She is thankful to be able to attend school where she is a junior in high school. The Chisomo Idea provides opportunities for her to enrich her education through the tutoring program offered on Saturday mornings. This will help her into her future where she hopes to study more about agriculture and eventually serve others through a job as a soldier.
